Christmas in Suncheon

Merry Christmas! Since Spencer and Maggie are only a 4 hour train from Seoul, I decided to go spend Christmas down south with them. I had a great weekend in Suncheon hanging out, exploring, cooking, making paper cranes, opening gifts, playing tick, watching them teach...and wasn't ready to leave them. Good thing we're meeting up in Japan in a couple days for New Years!

My little reindeers

I thought this was too cute not to share. These are some of my youngest, Olive class. I spend all morning 5 days a week with these guys. They are 6 years old in Korea, which is 5 years old in America. (Korean's say they are 1 year old when they are born, then change their age every new year. So, most are a year younger than we'd say they are in America). For our theme class we talked about Christmas: Santa, Reindeer, ornaments, wreaths, gingerbread men, and snowmen. I made the antlers out of two boy's handprints and cut out a little red nose for them to wear. They LOVED it. Enjoy :)

Days until Christmas: 4
Days until Japan: 7

Incheon Weekend

Last weekend I went west to Incheon to visit Jeremy. We had lots of fun exploring in Songdo on Saturday and took tons of photos. Here are some of my favorites of Jeremy's shots:

Smile

Things that made me smile this week:

Writing letters to Santa.
Seoul starting to feel like Christmas...
Finding some cheap angry bird toys my students will LOVE.
Eating a heart shaped egg for dinner. (yes, breakfast for dinner).
My afternoon girls (who have no idea how much they are teaching me).
Catching the last train home..
Bowling a 135,  in my purple pants.
Booking my train ticket to spend Christmas in Suncheon with S & M.
Counting down the days until Japan!
Hearing from friends far away, and knowing that distance doesnt change a thing.

What made you guys smile?

On my walk home...

I stopped for a green tea in this cute little cafe i've eyed since I moved to my new place.
Saving Private Ryan

A little hour glass so you wait for the tea to cool.
Lots of notes and drawings all in Korean so I added one in English.

Perfect little Monday night date with myself.

Picture Perfect Timing

I have been in Korea for a little over two weeks, and just when I started missing the fambam back home, in came a reminder of the best weekend in 2011: Spencer & Maggie's wedding!
