High kids take over Korea.

It's official. As of today, July 26th, all four High kids are in Korea. How did this happen, one may wonder. Well, Don't worry Mom & Dad: Ally bought a round trip ticket. ;)

Ally arrived tonight, for a 10 day stay to experience Korea and go on our Summer vacation to Jeju Island. Since all three of us (Spencer, Kyle and I) are living here for a year (or more) each, we figured she should come see what our lives are like on this side of the world. I picked her up from Incheon Airport, and Kyle and Allie met us back at my apartment to hang out for a couple hours before bed. We skyped Maggie and Spencer and it was so nice having everyone (some over skype) together. There is always so much love whenver we are all together. (Good job Mom and Dad, you raised us up right!) Tonight, Ally reminded me that it was 4 years ago, almost exactly to the day, that we all took our first big adventure together. The 5 of us wandered around Scotland, making life long memories together. This is the trip that really sparked the wanderlust in me. I can't wait to spend this week with my family, show Ally what Korea is all about, and explore new, fun, exciting places together. I am so lucky to have best friends as siblings. It really doesn't feel too long ago that we were all sitting in a bar in Scotland, climbing mountains and taking jumping pictures, crawling through Maggie and Spencer's fort in our 2 story flat, playing tick, and watching big red hot air balloons float away. Maybe 4 years from now, I'll be thinking back on this trip, as we conquer our 4th continent together. Africa, anyone? ;)

The 5 of us being silly over skype:

(please note exhausted Sister, passed out
from being awake for over 24 hours).

Always laughing
Tomorrow, I am taking Ally to meet my Olive Class.
They are almost as excited as I am that she is here.

Welcome to Korea, Ally!

Ian's Birthday

So, I've realized that about half my posts are now about my kindie kids. However, they are just too adorable not to share. Today was Ian's birthday. We have been counting down all month. One, because birthdays are awesome. And two, because Ally Sister comes today! (Since I am Katie Teacher, she is known as Ally Sister to the kids). All in all, it was a fabulous day.

I love catching little moments in the classroom. One of my favorite moments from Ian's birthday celebration was catching our Gym Teacher Danny Teacher feeding the only two girls in the class chocolate cake. It was just precious!

My little boys:

Happy Birthday, King Ian!

Boryeong Mud Festival!

This past weekend we set off to The Boryeong Mud Festival. Our friend Heather got us set up through a group that took care of the bus, pension, and a meal or two, along with our tickets into the event. After a 3 hour bus ride, that some friends barely made it awake for, we arrived in Boryeong. We had some burgers/veggie burgers, and checked into our pension.

Between a group of about 20 of us, we took over three rooms.
Some rooms had beds, and others didn't. However, the bed was about as comfy as the floor.
Jeremy's bed for the moment, consisted of a whole bus full of peoples bags.

My Seoul sistas

A roaming cow photographer, completely normal for Korea.

We ran into Spencer and Maggie, who had already been at the festival during the morning section. They painted themselves with the colored mud, and looked fabulous. The rest of the day consisted of becoming muddy, waiting in line, doing some sort of obstacle course, hitting the ocean, and repeating.

I didn't bring my camera inside, for obvious reasons.
Thanks to some friends with phones in zip lock bags and risky photographers, I have a couple nice photos of everybody super muddy.

One thing that I couldn't document was the crazy dance party on the beach that Kaylee and I stumbled into later on in the day. We couldn't believe it as we walked down some stairs into a giant pit of super muddy dancing people everywhere. Water (and maybe some beer) was being showered over everyone, until mother nature took over and just started raining over us on her own. At one point, Kaylee and I just looked at each other for a moment, thinking "is this really happening?" After the short pause, we continued are dance party, covering our eyes from the flying mud, rain, and appendages.

After roaming around looking for dinner (which felt like an eternity), we headed back to the pension. It had begun to rain pretty hard and we decided with a group our size, it would be just as fun to hang out in our rooms with everybody together. I had a fabulous night, and we were even able to see the fireworks through our room's window.

The next morning we were in recovery mode from the day before.
We ate brunch, walked around, and laid by the beach until our bus left at 2:30PM.

Trying to show how huge this bowl was...

Random side note: Somehow throughout the weekend, one of my size 8.5 Havaiana sandals was swapped with a size 7 Havaiana sandal. Even more odd, I didn't even notice for quite some time. Someone else, who was missing their shoes, ponited this out to me. Oh, the mysteries of Mud Fest. ;)

It was a long weekend, and everybody was exhausted... :)

Exhausted brother.

Exhausted Kaylee.
But, nothing a hot shower and a comfy bed couldn't fix.

Boryeong Mud Festival, you were everything I expected and more.
