Someone's Got Mail

A little over a month ago, I came across something called Postcrossing. Basically, you send a postcard to a stranger (through a website), and when they receive it and register it on the website, your address is given to another stranger, and they send you a post card. Since stranger sounds scary, I like to think of it as a friend you just haven't met yet. I thought it would be a cool way to see some different and unique post cards from countries I *may* never travel to. Also, who doesn't love getting mail?

This week I received my first three postcards. One from a retired man Arizona, who sent a picture of his Grandson hiking Half Down. The 2nd from a 16 year old High school student in Australia. And the third from a woman living in Ukraine.

My favorite was the third postcard I received from Ukraine. The picture on the postcard was so odd. It was of some abstract street art, which looked like two lamp posts shaped like bodies and sitting on a bench hugging. I thought it was great! I also love all the different stamps that come with the post card. I even got an angry bird sticker on one of them!

So far, I have sent five postcards and received three. My postcards traveled a combined 26,359 miles to reach their destinations. Crazy!

Sending and receiving postcards is more addicting than it sounds. Try it: www.postcrossing.com
