Muuido

spon·ta·ne·ous/spänˈtānēəs/

Adjective:
  1. Performed or occurring without premeditation or external stimulus: "spontaneous applause".
  2. (of a person) Having a natural, and uninhibited manner.

The word for this weekend would have to be spontaneous. What was suppose to be a quiet night cooking, turned into a delicious dinner out with friends. At that dinner, I was persuaded in the best way, to join a group of 5 awesome people the next morning for a weekend camping adventure. Without anything but the clothes I was wearing that night, I decided it was a fabulous idea. After some hours of sleep, a yummy breakfast, and an iced coffee... We were off. However, I clearly made it sound too simple. This was no ordinary trek. We took subways, to the airport*, to buses, to a ferry, to more buses, to finally arrive to the good stuff. (*Trying to find the Starbucks in the Incheon Airport felt like an adventure all in its own). But, oh was it worth it! After getting to the beach, scoping out a sweet campsite, and exploring for a bit, we decided to walk out with the tide. What seemed like an illusion, was in fact endless sand, leading out to where the ocean had been pulled away as the day came and went. The beach was scattered with shells, being washed back and forth as the water danced away, slowly creeping back with the sun. Trying to catch the tide, examining sea shells, letting my feet sink into the clay like sand, and soaking up the time before the sunset, made for the perfect Saturday afternoon.

After one of the quickest dissolving sunsets i've seen in a while, we feasted around a little plastic beach table, under a lamp attracting bugs drunk on its light. The night only continued to calm my mind as we drank beers, sang songs, and talked about whatever was floating through our minds at that moment. It was such a calm place  to escape from the busy rush of Seoul for a day and a half. Although the pictures will not do the weekend any justice, I have included some to help fill in the gaps. Muuido, I hope to see you again soon.

  1. This might be my favorite post you're ever made. It's so magical and beautiful. The words flow well and the pictures seem to capture to moments and tell stories all their own. Good one, Kate!
